<aside> ℹ️ Discussion Guiding Questions:

Things you should consider while reviewing the reading materials.

  1. Which of the SDGs do you personally care about the most?
  2. In your opinion, which SDGs are the most pressing?

<aside> 🤔 For this Bootcamp you do not need to know all the details of every SDG – and certainly not all the associated Targets or Actions.

The aim is for you to familiarise yourself with the diversity of environmental, social and economic issues integrated into the SDGs; and to identify within those the issues you are personally most passionate about tackling.

<aside> 🗺️ A brief introduction to the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) is a global framework for communicating about and coordinating action on the most broadest and deepest challenges humanity faces.

17 Goals, 169 Targets, 5424 Actions, 1 Framework

The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. At its heart are the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.

They recognise that ending poverty and other deprivations must go hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.

They are the destination, not the solution. The 17 goals are a framework to help you make decisions based on the local context and problem — which are different for every person, company, community, country — and there is no single right or easy answer for how to get there.

The Sustainable Development Goals Explained

17 Global Goals?! That seems like a lot. And why are they important? How are they all interconnected? How can I use them to understand and work towards a sustainable future?

Please watch the short (6 min) video below for an explanation of the UN SDGs.

The 17 Sustainable Development Goals

For this program you do not need to know any of the detailed targets or indicators. We would strongly encourage you however, to familiarise yourself with the broad narrative of the 17 goals to help you consider where your personal passions and professional interests intersect with the SDGs.

For a brief description of each SDG, you can visit the UN Sustainable Development Goals Website and hover over each goal (and you can click on the goal to open further information about it).
