Reflection = locking in your learning

As you now appreciate first hand, your Global Bootcamp was an intensive experience! The experience was designed to push you beyond your comfort zone in a variety of ways; while providing you with the support, resources and safety to learn from the experience.

We have designed it this way for a good reason. Evidence demonstrates that intensive experiences can lead to deep learning and transformation – especially when combined with post-experience reflection. We sincerely hope that has been the experience for you.

To capture the full value of the intensive Bootcamp experience you have invested the time and energy to go through, we encourage you to take a little time in the next few days to reflect on your experience – before your memory of the experience fades!

Reflection with colleagues = expanded learning & deeper relationships

We also encourage you to consider arranging a time for a relaxed 'coffee and connect' with your teammates and/or your open innovation table colleagues.

In addition to deepening your new professional relationships (and possibly friendships), discussing your experience and reflections with others who have been through the same experience has additional benefits.

A learning science hint for all your learning experiences... repetition is key!

Every time you ‘repeat’ an idea or insight, your likelihood of remembering and converting a lesson into a habit goes up significantly. Reflecting individually, then discussing with others, then reflecting individually again is one sure way to capture the most value from any experience.

Reflecting on your Learning Outcomes…

With reference to the foundational learning outcomes for the Bootcamp…

<aside> ℹ️

The exercises, tools and reference materials across the Explore and Design stages of your Bootcamp learning journey have been designed to develop those mindsets, mental models and skills. For example, reviewing the Bootcamp Resources and your team workbook is a good way to deepen this reflection – as is discussing them with your teammates.

Reflecting on the How to Change the World approach…

<aside> ℹ️

Our How to Change the World perspective on this:

We believe that it is the overlap of (1) what you are passionate about, and (2) what ‘the world’ (i.e. real people and communities) needs and wants, that you will find the greatest opportunities to make meaningful change in the world.

Finding that overlap takes time, takes iteration and experimentation... but when do, you can and will make a real difference in the world. We hope your Bootcamp experience provided an opportunity to get started!
